The objective of this master thesis is to enhance pre-existing literature on crosssector partnership (CSP), by providing empirical evidence of CSP. Our goal is to explore the characteristics of CSP in an empirical context and provide a developed understanding of the phenomenon. We have done so by investigating the characteristics of CSP in the empirical setting of Klima 2050 – an initiative set out to deal with climate adaptation. We conducted a qualitative multiple case study of four projects within Klima 2050 and our findings shows why actors participate in CSP, what the partners in this type of collaboration do and the potential effects of the partnership and lastly how partners deal with challenges and how they succeed. Furthermore, our study revealed that many of the characteristics of CSP were similar to previous literature, while other characteristics deviated from pre-existing literature.
