dc.description.abstractIn the last decade, the use of online social media has revolutionized how humans interact with each other. The most famous and used online social media service is Facebook.com, which was the first social media on the internet that was accepted and used by a large set of the population. A range of different online social media services that are all facilitating online communication and networking in different ways have during this period been developed. One of these services is LinkedIn.com, which from now on only will be referred to as LinkedIn. LinkedIn is the world's largest professional online service. It was created to fit the needs of professionals all over the world and for different industries and levels of profession. The service is used in the recruiting business since it gives fast access to the curricula vitae from a range of skilled professionals. This thesis relates to the recruiters and their use of LinkedIn in their day-to-day work and the concept of disruptive innovation, created by Clayton Christensen (1997). The goal and objective of this thesis is to determine whether LinkedIn is a disruptive innovation for the recruitment industry, with a special emphasis on Norwegian recruiters.
