Abstract
Rapid advancement in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is transforming how we apply for jobs. This study aims to explore the adoption of AI technologies among job seekers and identify factors influencing their use. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 112 participants through an online survey. This study employs the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) model to measure AI adoption potential.
The results indicated that perceived employability and search intensity positively influence job seekers' intention to use AI-assisted job search tools, at the same time, algorithmic aversion was found to reduce it. Among the demographic factors, age, education, and career choice influence AI potential. This study contributes to the job search research by providing insights into the factors influencing AI adoption in the job search process. These insights are valuable to recruiters who want to optimise candidate matching efficiency and stay updated on a constantly technologically evolving job market. The findings can also serve job seekers as they try to adapt to the potential barriers that might prevent them from adopting new technologies.
