Sammendrag
In this thesis, the Stellantis case has been used to study the link between a mega-merger and the innovative positioning within an industry. To assess whether this merger has sustained Stellantis to become an innovation leader in the electric vehicles industry, we have gathered various findings, from a deep text analysis, divided in 5 separate parts: Merger rationales, R&D strategy, R&D intensity, Patents and Key innovations. After examining and analysing these subjects, we can conclude that the mega-merger between PSA (Peugeot) and FCA (Fiat) has undeniably positioned Stellantis as a significant leader in innovation.
However, it is important to acknowledge that Stellantis is not the sole leader in this domain. The merger has served as a strategic move to ensure survival and gain a competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving automotive & EV industries. By combining resources, expertise, and innovative capabilities, Stellantis is better equipped to thrive and compete effectively against other major industry players. This strategic operation allows Stellantis to leverage synergies, optimize its R&D efforts, and enhance its market presence, ultimately aiming to drive forward the development of cutting-edge electric vehicles and other technological advancements.
